Archaeology

The number of Archaeologic monuments registerd in the territory of Shahrisabz district is more then 200. their chronology is a period from the late paleolith to 19 century. Among monuments with universal historical importance are mountain Anguillok (paleolith period), Siypantosh (paleolith and mesolite periods), Uzunkir comlex (the early Iron Age), Kalandartepa (Hellenistic period), Zindontepa (early Middle Ages), Sariktepa (early Middle Ages), Chechaktepa (chape of nestorians of the early Middle Ages), Kirtepa (the cemetery of nestorians) and etc.
