From the result of many-years archiological researches it became known than tne Southern part of Kashkadarya oasis began to be settled by people in paleolith . The early period of paleolith is studied in the large range in the mountain Anuillok of oasis Oekchisay. A unique chapel built in the late period of paleolith and named by local settlements as «Siypantosh» is located near Kuruksoy area in this oasis. Different symbols in the picture style are in the smooth surface of the main rock Siypantosh painted by brown, dark-red, pink paints and yellow ochre. There are hands figures, hunting, wild animals, and 29 short lines, which explain to some scientists that these symbols mean ancient calendar and 4 seasons of the year.

Shakhrisabz is a part of the most ancient towns in tne Central Asia, tne embryo of the town was formed 2500 years ago in the place monuments’ complex of Sanguirtepa, Uzunkir and Podaetoktepa, belonging to Kitab district. Research workers of the museum conduct archeological investigations with appropriate institutes related to the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekstan, with the historical faculty of the National University of Uzbekistan and also with the new historical centre of the Academy of state and social structuring of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. as a result of archeological investigations it was established for the first time that historical age of ancient towns of Uzbekistan is more then 2700 years based on material and written sources. Shakhrisabz town, named as Kesh in the Middle Ages, is an ancient and cultural heritage of Middle Ages, and in 2002 its anniversary was widely celebrated under the aegis of UNESCO.


The ministry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the aim preparation for and high-level carrying out of jubilee celebrations in November in 2002 in honour 2700 anniversary from the date of Shakhrisabz town foundation taken a special place in the world history and culture, decrees:
